Medic One Funded Projects

RCN International Conference of Research
Julia Grahamslaw

Thanks to the funding form Medic One, I was able to attend the Royal College of Nursing International conference of research in Nottingham, earlier this year. My Colleague Dr Dip Datta and I submitted two abstracts of two research studies carried out in the department, Lactate, Arterial and Venous agreement in sepsis (LAVAS) and Capillary and Venous Lactate agreement (CVLA). To our delight the abstracts were accepted and I travelled down to Nottingham to present them.

This was a fantastic opportunity to represent the Emergency Medicine Research Group Edinburgh (EMERGE) and the Emergency Department, nationally and internationally. The presentations were greatly received and drummed up lots of questions and talking points from the audience. It also led to some useful contacts, the editor from Emergency Nurse approached me afterwards and asked me to write an article for the journal, describing what EMERGE is, what we do and why emergency nurses should be interested in us.

I was overjoyed a few weeks later when it was published. View Publication.

Thank you Medic One!
