Emergency Department PA, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Catherine joined the Emergency Department team on 7th October 2013, having worked previously as Medical Secretary at Deaconess Hospital from 1980 until 1985 then Rosslynlee Hospital till 1988.

She left the NHS to have her family – 2 daughters, Lora aged 25 who works as a Clerical Officer in Sick Kids and Coleen 22, who is in her final year studying Fashion and Design at Heriot Watt University in Galashiels. In addition to her daughters she has two old Gordon Setters, Rosie and Tia.

She returned to work in Edinburgh University Health Centre in 1996 as Medical Secretary and was the “Liz Macdonald” of the UHS.  Having reached the grand old age of 50 the year before, decided to look for a new challenge in my “twilight years” – and here I am.

She played hockey until last year when she gave up gracefully (and reluctantly) after discovering she could no longer run as fast or keep up with opponents less than half her age!  Catherine has ran the past two Edinburgh Half Marathons and plans to do the new Scottish Half Marathon next year. She has also completed the Caledonian Challenge, Maggie’s Monster Bike and Hike, Rob Roy Challenge and this year Beat the Borders Challenge.
